Mark Harrison joined the Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA) in 1997, becoming its third Executive Director in 2011 and its first CEO in 2016. In 2027, he will celebrate 30 years with the organization.
Harrison played a central role in the creation of PGA Frisco, one of the most significant golf developments in Texas history. He developed the original vision and business plan that united the PGA of America, the City of Frisco, and TRT Holdings in a historic $600 million partnership. This development includes two championship courses, the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, and the relocation of both the PGA of America and NTPGA headquarters. Credited as a catalyst for over $10 billion in surrounding development, PGA Frisco will host the 2027 and 2034 PGA Championships and is projected to generate $2.5 billion in economic impact over two decades.
Under Harrison’s leadership, the NTPGA has become one of the most influential Sections within the PGA of America, overseeing the largest staff and operating budget among the PGA’s 41 Sections. During his tenure, the combined assets of the Section and Foundation have grown by more than 1,000%, while the annual operating budget has increased by nearly 200%.
Today, the Section serves over 1,100 PGA Professionals and operates a premier junior golf program whose alumni, including Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth, have won 10 major championships. Harrison also developed the original ‘Team Golf’ concept, which was later adopted nationally as PGA Jr. League and now serves over 85,000 junior golfers annually.
The NTPGA Foundation serves more than 10,000 junior golfers, students, and veterans annually through its pillars of junior golf, college scholarships, inclusion, internships, and military and veterans. Harrison’s commitment to philanthropy is central to his legacy. He co-founded the Birdies for Kids program, which has generated nearly $4 million for more than 50 children’s charities, and helped raise over $6.3 million through the Ewing Charity Classic. Under his guidance, the Foundation’s scholarship program expanded from $35,000 annually to more than $900,000 in 2026, awarding over $7.3 million to 1,000+ students since its inception.
Harrison also led the capital campaign to establish the NTPGA campus at PGA Frisco, featuring the Northern Texas PGA Golf House, the Growth of the Game Pavilion, the first of its kind, Ronny Golf Park and the Texas Golf Hall of Fame anchor site. Additionally, he grew the NTPGA internship program from a single intern to more than 70 annually, launching the careers of over 250 golf industry professionals.
A native of Australia, Harrison moved to the U.S. at age 21, earned a Master of Sports Administration from Ohio University, and became a U.S. citizen in 2008. Through nearly three decades of leadership, Harrison has shaped the modern landscape of golf in North Texas, strengthening the foundation of the game for generations of PGA Professionals and future generations of golfers.

Mark Harrison’s journey to American golf began a long way from home. He left Surfers Paradise, Australia, for college in Ohio, trading beaches and sunshine for freezing temperatures and snow. Looking back, he might have questioned exactly where he had pointed on the world map when he chose Ohio, but that move became the beginning of a remarkable career in golf in the United States.
The Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf program has helped develop some of the most accomplished players in the game. Alumni include major champions and PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour standouts such as Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Leonard, Angela Stanford, and Brittany Lang, as well as countless players who have continued their careers at the collegiate and professional levels. Their success is a powerful example of how junior golf, strong competition, and the opportunity to develop a love for the game can begin. The legacy is impressive, but the future may be even more exciting. #WhosNext
