Henry August “Hank” Kuehne II, born September 11, 1975, in Dallas, established himself as one of the country’s premier amateur golfers before competing professionally on the PGA Tour.

Introduced to golf by his father at an early age, Kuehne developed his game alongside his older brother, Trip, and younger sister, Kelli. All three became USGA champions, making the Kuehnes the only trio of siblings to accomplish that distinction.

Kuehne began his collegiate career at Oklahoma State University before transferring to Southern Methodist University. During his career at SMU, he earned All America recognition, won the 1996 Southwest Conference individual championship and became one of the leading amateur players in the world. His defining victory came at the 1998 U.S. Amateur Championship at Oak Hill Country Club, where he defeated Tom McKnight, 2 and 1, in the championship match. He also represented the United States in the 1998 Eisenhower Trophy and the 1998 and 1999 Palmer Cups.

After graduating from SMU in 1999 with a degree in communications, Kuehne turned professional. He captured the 2002 Canadian Tour Order of Merit and recorded two runner up finishes on the PGA Tour, at the 2003 Shell Houston Open and the 2005 John Deere Classic.

Known as one of the longest hitters of his generation, Kuehne led the PGA Tour in driving distance in 2003, ending John Daly’s run of eight consecutive driving distance titles. His powerful, aggressive style made him one of the Tour’s most recognizable players during the height of his career.

Lingering back injuries eventually limited Kuehne’s ability to compete and kept him away from the PGA Tour for several years. His accomplishments, however, secured his place among the most distinguished amateur and professional golfers produced by Texas.

With his induction into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame, Hank joins his sister, Kelli, and brother, Trip, making the Kuehnes one of the most celebrated golfing families in Texas history.
