Dale Morgan, PGA, has built one of the most respected careers in Texas golf through more than four decades of leadership, mentorship, innovation, and service to the game. A distinguished golf management executive and longtime PGA Professional, Morgan has shaped some of Texas’s most storied golf institutions while contributing significantly to the Southern Texas PGA, the PGA of America, and the broader golf community.
Morgan’s career began after studying Turf Management and Crop Science at Texas A&M University. His early roles as Head Golf Professional and General Manager at Bryan Municipal Golf Course, Cottonwood Creek Golf Course, Lago Vista Golf Course, and River Place Country Club established his reputation as a skilled operator and thoughtful leader. He became a PGA Member in 1990, laying the foundation for a career defined by professionalism and service.
In 1995, Morgan began the defining chapter of his career at Austin Country Club. Serving as Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf Operations for nearly 30 years, he became only the third PGA Professional to hold the role since the club’s founding in 1899. His leadership honored the legacy of Harvey and Tinsley Penick while modernizing operations and elevating the member experience. In 2023, he was named Golf Professional Emeritus, becoming only the second individual in the club’s 125-year history to receive that distinction, following Harvey Penick.
Morgan’s influence extends well beyond club operations. He has served as President of the Southern Texas PGA, held national leadership roles with the PGA of America, and currently serves as District 12 Director on the PGA of America Board of Directors. He is a three-time Southern Texas PGA Golf Professional of the Year and has been named a National PGA Golf Professional of the Year finalist multiple times.
Known for his steady leadership and genuine care for people, Morgan has earned a national reputation as a mentor to PGA and LPGA professionals, helping guide many into leadership roles across the golf industry. He has also supported competitive players, junior golfers, charitable tournaments, First Tee of Austin, and programs tied to major Texas golf events.
Through his distinguished career, Dale Morgan has represented the very best of the PGA Professional. His leadership, generosity, and lifelong commitment to service have helped shape the game across Texas and beyond. Dale and his wife, Suzie, have two daughters, and his family has been an important part of his journey and legacy in the game.

Dale Morgan’s love of golf is matched by his deep commitment to serving the game at the national level. Through his service on the PGA of America Board, he has contributed his leadership, experience, and time to advancing the profession and supporting the game across the country. One of the special perks of that service is the opportunity to serve as a starter at the PGA Championship, giving Dale a front-row seat to one of golf’s great championships and a role he embraces with pride.

Dale’s path to Austin Country Club came with a little friendly rivalry built in. A proud Texas A&M graduate, he stepped into the role of head professional at a club deeply connected to the University of Texas. In one of college sports’ biggest rivalries, Austin Country Club was willing to look past the maroon and recognize Dale’s talent, leadership, and professionalism, proving that some things are bigger than school colors.
Dale Morgan has always had a sharp eye for style and a genuine love of clothes, influenced by his Dad, his mentor Joe Whittaker, and the first time he met Doug Sanders. Whether on the golf course or at an event, he is known for being well-dressed and taking pride in how he presents himself, reflecting the same attention to detail he has brought to his career in golf.
Before working at Austin Country Club, Tom Kite helped Dale get Harvey Penick's signature in the Little Red Book he was giving to his father. As it turned out, a few other special players signed the book as well!
This photo of Dale and his Father was taken at Miramont Country Club in Bryan, Texas. This was the last round of golf Dale played with his dad, and this photo is extra special because Dale played his first round of golf with his dad, and his Dad played his last round of golf with Dale.
Dale received the Southern Texas PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2004, 2006, and 2021. Dale cherishes this ring, which the section presented to him to commemorate this honor and his service.
